Behavior Modification
What is Behavior Modification?
Behavior modification is a type of training that adresses behavioral issues in dogs. It is the process of diagnosing and treating problems like anxiety, reactivity, and aggression.
How it Works
No matter what anybody says, any dog can develop behavioral issues; no matter the age, size, gender, or breed. At Cobalt Canine, I strive to do everything I can to help owners with difficult dogs. I create customized training plans for each individual dog because every situation is unique. I specialize in analyzing and diagnosing behavioral issues in dogs and developing treatment plans that will help them live better lives. Here's the trick: I can train your dog until my face turns blue, but that is not what fixes dogs. The key to success with any kind of training is the owner, and you are the most important piece of behavior modification. Unless you do your homework as the dog owner, nothing will change. So if you want to see real progress in your dog, you must follow the training plan I give you, put the work in, and help your dog overcome their issues. I am more than happy to show you the way and walk alongside you, but at the end of the day, its your dog.

Aggression
Anxiety
Fear is the most common behavioral issue among dogs. For me, its the most rewarding to treat. Seeing a dog come out of it's shell and learn to trust the world again is a feeling like no other. It is a pleasure to walk alongside dog owners as they learn how to identify their dog's fears and learn how to build their confidence bit by bit.
Reactivity
In some ways, reactivity can be the most tricky behavioral issue to treat. The cause can be more generalized and it takes real dedication on the owner's part. In my experience, treating reactivity challenges the owner to grow just as much as the dog. You may be surprised at how much reactivity training can change both you and your dog.
Aggression
For most owners, aggression is the most widely misunderstood behavior in dogs. It seems like everyone has a different perspective on this tragic behavioral issue. Unlike most trainers, my education at Highland K9 taught me to diagnose specific types of aggression and develop unique treatment plans. I thoroughly understand the psychology of dogs and operant conditioning. It is essential to consult a trainer who understands dog behavior well if you hope to improve the life of your dog. Disclaimer: I am more than willing to evaluate ANY dog for FREE, no matter how bad the aggression may be. My opinion comes at no cost because I do this for more than money. However, there are some cases that I simply am not equipped to treat, like cases that call for more than one person or a bite suit. As the sole trainer at Cobalt Canine, I can diagnose aggression and provide treatment and management plans, but I may not have the facilities to fully execute it. As I said earlier, I am in this for more than money and pride, and I am happy to guide you towards another trainer if I believe I do not have the means or equipment to safely and effectively treat it.
